We don't have cable yet at my new apartment, but we do get about 20 random channels. Somehow, we are fortunate enough to be able to get Food Network. My favorite show is definitely "Good Eats" with my main man Alton Brown.
It's described on his website as " Pop culture, comedy, and plain good eating: Host Alton Brown explores the origins of ingredients, decodes culinary customs and presents food and equipment trends. Punctuated by unusual interludes, simple preparations and unconventional discussions, he'll bring you food in its finest and funniest form."
In my newly found world of bachelorhood, one of my biggest initiatives is going to be to learn how to cook. I can make a lot of really basic stuff now, but even that basic stuff isn't that good. Watching this show is definitely a good starting point for me to become a master chef.

Tomorrow Dick is going to be in charge while Bush is having his ass checked. Shit... what can he possibly do in 2.5 hours?
Hopefully, for all of our sake, he just falls asleep for the duration of his short stint as acting president. Don't most old guys randomly just fall asleep during the middle of the day?

Just stumbled onto Pocket Change the other day... to say the least, it's pretty entertaining and good for spitting out random facts when you're out drinking with friends. For example, did you know that New York's most expensive hamburger is $120? What do you get for $120 you ask? Check it out here. It also gives extra info like best and worst tasting burgers.

My old college hockey teammate, Brett Adams (more affectionately know to me as "Stiltsie" due to the fact he is probably 7"5) is doing big things for the startup community in Orlando. Through his blog, Startup Students, he has created a great resource of information and insight for anyone (specifically UCF students) interested in honing their entrepreneurial skills. Not only does he manage his blog, but he also runs his own web design firm, Brett Adams Design. Check out his site to see some of his most recent projects. ***Brett might be doing some work for Confabb... more details to come.
Brett has big things in store with an upcoming project that I have had the privilege to get a first glimpse of. I can't let you know any of the details just yet, but I can say it won't be another one of those "I have a great idea for a web 2.o startup that will not solve any problems or do anything worthwhile for anyone, but will look cool!" I'm proud of you Stilts!

I have been cursed with this weird phenomenon of being out of town when my favorite bands come to play since I was 16 and I missed a Rage/Wu-Tang concert because I went to sleep-away camp in Canada. I am heading down to my old stomping grounds in Orlando tomorrow to visit some friends and "family"... coincidentally The Battles are playing at Studio B on Friday night. I have been wanting to see these guys play live since I first heard their SICK album a few months ago. Anyways, I hope that anyone that goes enjoys the show... bastards.

then you should really check out Bernardo's List. I had the pleasure of meeting Bernardo at the NY Tech Meetup, and he is a pretty cool guy. Regardless of whether he is cool or not, his email list (got my 1st today) is loaded with all types of great networking events around NYC. Definitely worth checking out... and it's free.

If this was any other celebrity, my boy Rizai would have probably gotten arrested. But Whoopi, of Sister Act fame, actually stood completely still while being groped... almost like a wax figure or something. It was a really weird, traumatic experience for everyone, and Rizai still hasn't spoken a word since this happened.

Happy 10th birthday/anniversary to blogs... article from WSJ Online here.
Special props go to Confabb co-founder Cameron Barrett, who gets a nice mention in the article. Read all about his past 10 years in the blogosphere on his blog, CamWorld. Interesting stuff for any bloggers or blog readers.

This is me if I was in The Simpsons. You can create yourself here... just keep in mind the options for customization are pretty limited, which is why I look like a cross between Ed Grimley, Steve Urkel and Morgan Freeman in Shawshank Redemption.
Yea, still kind of excited for The Simpsons Movie. My only fear is that it's going to suck, which is definitely a possibility. The previews are funny enough, but I can't gauge a movie based on that anymore. My only argument against this movie sucking is that Matt Groening would not ruin his legacy by selling out and making a movie... or will he? Thinking back of the worst TV-to-movie adaptations, they would have to be "Dukes of Hazzard" and "Miami Vice." I haven't seen the "Reno 911" movie, but I heard it was hysterical.

I know it's a little delayed, but it was hard tracking down the people that were taking pics that night. A bunch of different apartments hosted a huge rooftop party for the 4th in the 'Burg. We were up there grilling from 2PM on into the night and resident DJ Code-D (my roommate) was providing musical enjoyment for the 100's of people up there. On and off rain all day long didn't keep everyone from partying on into the night... and everyone that was patient enough to withstand the rain was treated to front row seats to an insanely spectacular fireworks display on the East River. Many thanks to Sparks for sponsoring the event.

These guys are great, except they are cocky as hell. I bought my PowerBook and 2 iPods there. Extremely helpful bunch, and it was also crazy convenient to my old apartment (they're on 23rd & 6th).
Today, I checked out my local Apple pros... also crazy convenient for me (they're on 6th and Berry). While a lot smaller than Tekserve (size of the store & inventory), these guys are cool as hell AND have a ping-pong table. I highly recommend these guys.

I picked up an older woman at a club last night. She was hot (for 57).
We drank a bit, had a bit of a conversation, and she asked if
I'd ever had the sportsman's double?
I told her I wasn't sure what that was. She said it was a mother and daughter threesome.
Well, she was so attractive I figured the daughter had to be really hot, so I accepted her offer!
We drank a bit more, then she says that tonight was my lucky night. I said that sounds great, let's go!
We went back to her place. She put the hall light on and shouted upstairs:
"Mom, you still awake?"

This is pretty funny, I wish I thought of it. If you don't know, it's from the classic Wu-Tang track appropriately title "Ice Cream" off of Raekwon's "...Cuban Links" album, which is also a classic. And Wu-Tang will be at Rock the Bells in 2 weeks. Yessur!

Electric Door is a cool new streetwear and culture e-mag you have to download the .pdf for. It's definitely worth it though. I like the concept of a downloadable e-mag, especially for new mags trying to get a rep, mainly because I can view it offline i.e. on the subway.

Bao Xishun is 7"9... and 56 years old. He managed to pull this hot little number, Xia Shujian, who is half his age and 3/4 his height at 5"6. He looks like some kind of crazy ass Chinese pimp in this picture with that cane. Weird stuff.
Why couldn't Bao just teach himself to play basketball 35 years ago? There is a laundry list of names of guys who played in the NBA who weren't nearly as tall as him and were terrible at basketball.

Please go here and check out Question Party, the "brainchild" of some of the folks over at MeetUp (their names are being withheld to protect their identities). I guess after checking this site out is when you start to ask yourself where you draw the line between genius and insanity (or just plain stupidity). But at the same time, I can't really sit there and call this stupid if I can't create it myself... ah fuck it, it's stupid. Really stupid.

I want you to sit there and tell me that this fat little girl doesn't look like Chris Farley. Uncanny resemblance, scary really.
Some memorable Farley lines:
Billy Madison- "that Veronica Vaughn is one piece of Ase ... I know from experience, if you know what I mean."
Tommy Boy- "I'll tell you what, you can take a good look at a butcher's a** by sticking your head up there, but wouldn't you rather take his word for it?"
Dirty Work- "That's the Saigon whore that bit my nose off!"

Last night I had the chance to do a 5 minute Confabb presentation at the 33rd NY Tech MeetUp. I was a little skeptical at first since we aren't exactly providing any new type of technology at Confabb, just an awesome new service. The 5 minutes seemed to last forever, especially when Scott asked I do a demo instead of my boring power point. I eventually got through it, and successfully wrapped up my first encounter with having to speak to an audience of 500 tech-savvy folks. The experience was great, and it was good exposure for Confabb.
Oh, for any NYers reading this... you have to check out this site called UpNext. They debuted last night, and it's pretty freakin' awesome.

-Heinze (45') off a free kick by Riquelme... you HAVE to see this one
-Messi (61') you HAVE to see this also... insane chip shot
-Riquelme (65') on a PK
Overall, Argentina completely dominated a scrappy Mexican squad that had their fair share of missed opportunities. Up next is big, bad Brazil in the Finals. If we play like we did tonight, nobody can stop us.

Huge props to Freebass over at Spliffington Management for his most recent accomplishment. Free has 2 tracks on the new Fabolous album, From Nothin' To Somethin'. The album came in at No. 1 in it's first week, having sold 159,000 copies. Not sure what the numbers look like now, but Free better start finding some space on his wall to hang up a shiny metallic record very soon. Learn more about Spliffington Management here.

Side note: Gingtean in Thai means "little candle." That makes the whole light at the end of the tunnel thing make even more sense.

Tonight is the 5-year anniversary of The Rub at Southpaw. If you are in Brooklyn tonight and want to dance your a$$ off at 1 of the best parties around, stop by. Then tomorrow, they will be at McCarren Park Pool spinning with Mark Ronson.
If you don't know about The Rub, they are a NY-based DJ crew consisting of DJ Ayres, Eleven and Cosmo Baker. Individually and collectively they have put out some very memorable mixes that are definitely worth checking out.
